You think quicker. You walk with more confidence. You are more open to opportunities. Your smile comes easier. Your heart pumps stronger and hence your breath quickens. Shivers run down over your shoulders to your lower back, forearms and groin. It makes you listen to music louder. The little things shrink. The bigger things grow into perspective. Time gets shorter. And slowly day fades into dark and you realise you have another hour to fill with inspiration, friends, choices and actions that affect tomorrow. All around us people are doing amazing things. I urge you all to consider what it is you have been born with, in terms of how you think and how you feel that may provide you with the clues to what you should be doing every hour. This guy does it. This girl’s doing it. He did it. If we are but one of a hundred million ants on this rock, then no one’s going to notice if you start walking the other way. So why don’t you?

Nice words Bro, Yvon Chouinard is a legend! Being a Black Diamond fanatic, I can absolutely vouch for the quality and integrity of this company, they have some amazing sustainable business ethics and are so passionate about their product. Cool stuff!

Have you read his book Adam? It’s called ‘Let my People go Surfing’. Highly recommended.

Thank you Josh for this inspiring piece! I am glad to be reminded of what life can be and how important it is to walk your own path. Just last week I was similarly inspired watching Noel Pearson on Australian Story talking about his own personal sense of duty to work for the good of current and future generations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. He was something of a mentor to Tania Major, who went on to become Young Australian of the Year. Inspiring stuff!

No, haven’t read it yet Josh, just delighting in the tail end of Shantaram at the moment, will keep an eye out for it though.

I hear you Sam. I read an article by Noel in the Australian on the last weekend in May which was a replica of a speech he gave to his own community on Hope Island. It was an amazing piece of writing and personal account of the path he is walking.

Adam, enjoy the sound of rain at Urban Grind if that is where the last pages will be turned…

All these people we admire in society have strong views in particular areas and work to bring attention to them while of course making a sustainable living. Heart in one hand, strategy in the other… Hmmm…
