Uncategorized: not just another magazine

Having evolved from a small quarterly journal to a full-colour annual, The Australian Photojournalist (APJ) is not just another magazine. It’s a crusading not-for-profit journal that celebrates the work of the world’s top writers, academics and journalists (in text and image) whilst focusing on stories that are not being told in the mainstream international media. Whether telling the story of Iraqi aristocrats, small-town Australia or war-torn Lebanon, the APJ casts a critical eye over conventional mass media practices and challenges the supposed truths presented to us. In the past, the journal has featured important work by Tim Page, John Pilger, Noam Chomsky, Eugene Richards, Tamara Dean, Ami Vitale and Narelle Autio. Published out of Griffith University’s Queensland College of Art, the APJ has recently been launched online. Check out the current issue, titled “Tell My Story”, or browse through the archive of back issues to get inspired about journalism, in all its forms.
