In the same vein as the recent Designer Fight Club, So You Think You Can Write? will see up-and-coming authors battle against UQP wordsmiths Jaya Savige, Nerida Newton and Zacharey Jane for the top-ranking title this Friday night as part of the inaugural Writing – The Fringe Festival. Writing – The Fringe Festival is a three-day evening program of innovative, cross platform writing-related activity created to coincide with this year’s Brisbane Writers Festival and will run in the evenings of September 18–20 at West End’s Sling Bar. Designed to engage a new generation of younger writers in hands-on events, Writing – The Fringe Festival was masterminded by BURN Collective – a group of young Brisbane writers who are looking to orchestrate opportunities within the writing and publishing industries for younger writers.
