Usually when we think of methods to try to cheer up our grandparents, it involves bringing them sweet treats and simply spending some quality time with them. But when French photographer Sacha Goldberger discovered that his 91-year-old Hungarian grandmother Frederika was feeling a little lonely and depressed, he took things a little further. Sacha suggested that Frederika dress up in superhero garb and pose for a series of outrageous photos that brought out her inner heroine. The result? Frederika couldn’t stop smiling.
The beauty of Frederika’s story is that she was actually responsible for saving the lives of 10 Jewish people while living in Budapest during World War II, by hiding them in different places helping them to avoid capture and persecution. Sacha has even created a MySpace page for his beloved grandmother, so that her many fans can pass on their admiration for the mighty 91-year-old superhero.
