In an intensely personal performance, the dancers from the Indonesian Nan Jombang Dance Company present their portrayal of the earthquake that shook Padang in 2009, in Tarian Malam. The dancers had been rehearsing outdoors when the 7.6-scale earthquake began to tremble, sending their dance studio tumbling to the ground. Through a performance that fuses martial arts, drumming, and traditional and contemporary dance, the dancers portray their communal experience of the life-altering event.
