We’ve all heard of the Brisbane and Sydney Writers’ Festivals, but what about the Byron Bay Writers Festival? Far from being the poor younger sibling of other festivals, the Byron Bay Writers’ Festival features a program full of local, national and international talent, bought together to inspire, share and create. Some of the big names attending this year’s festival includes William McInnes, Maureen and Tony Wheeler (Lonely Planet), Kylie Kwong, Judith Lucy, Bruce Beresford and David Stratton. The authors will come together under four huge marquees over the course of the festival to share their thoughts, inspirations – as well as tips and tricks of the trade – with budding wordsmiths and keen readers alike. Catering to all tastes, genres, ages and levels, the program features everything from kids’ sessions to panel discussions, workshops and even a writing retreat, where you can stay in the luxurious Peppers Retreat, be inspired by the green surroundings of the Byron Bay hinterland and have access to tuition and mentoring from two highly regarded writers. There is even a chance to get your 15 minutes of literary fame, with opportunities to read your manuscript to a willing audience.

Can’t wait – it’s a great line-up this year …
