Perhaps best known for the mix-up of samples featured in The Avalanche’s hit Frontier Psychiatrist, DJ Dexter is a nimble-fingered turntablist that will feature in this weekend’s Valley Fiesta line-up. Placed second in the World DMC DJ Championships in 2000, DJ Dexter is a three-times Australian DMC Champion. A guest at this year’s Valley Fiesta, DJ Dexter will be pumping out the jams on the Brunswick Street Mall stage this Saturday evening. People looking for a softer start to the night may wish to head over to the Chinatown Stage for The Gin Club. Locals to Brisbane, the 9-piece (and sometimes more) have been raising their profile around the nation thanks to a double album release earlier in the year and a busy touring schedule. Despite the large number of band members, their sound is smooth, with lilting harmonies, a hint of tamborine and a few strings. Other bands featured across the weekend include End Of Fashion, Katy Steele, Jeff Lang, Operator Please, The John Steele Singers and The Boat People.
